The Bachelor of Arts in History Degree gives us the tools to reflect on who we are, where we come from and where we might go. You'll learn how to critically evaluate historical myths versus truths. This program will allow you to gain a deeper understanding of history and its role in human society. You have the chance to study abroad in our optional field schools such as Canada's Internment Era Field School.

    - English Studies 12 or English First Peoples 12 (73%) or [equivalent](https://www.uvic.ca/undergraduate/admissions/language-requirements/)
    - Three approved academic 12 courses

3. All of the following Grade 11 courses:
    - Approved English 11 or equivalent
    - Foundations of Mathematics 11 or Pre-calculus 11 or equivalent
    - Approved Science 11 or equivalent
    - Approved Social Studies 11/12 or equivalent

Academic Admission Requirement

1. All applicants to UVic (regardless of country of origin or citizenship status) are required to demonstrate competence in the English language prior to admission. You can choose one of several ways to demonstrate language proficiency. You are not required to provide proof of language proficiency if you have studied full time for at least four years within Canada at the high school and/or post-secondary level, and all of your instruction has been in English.

2. Admission averages are calculated using all required Grade 12 courses for entry to a program. The actual admission average required for entry may be higher in the future due to increased competition and limited capacity.
3. You can declare this program as your major after one or more years of full-time study in the faculty of humanities

The deadline to submit proof of language proficiency is typically one month after the application deadline. After you apply to UVic, your language-proficiency deadline will be indicated in your online application checklist.
