The Bachelor of Science Degree in Biochemistry is about the latest developments in biochemistry and uncover explanations of the molecular basis of life. Learn technical skills in lab courses and enter the world of biochem through the co-op and career program. You can even conduct your own research under the guidance of a faculty member. Modern biochemical research includes structural biology, proteomics, genomics, epigenetics, signal transduction, gene expression and development, metabolic diseases, bioinformatics, and molecular evolution.

1. High school graduation or equivalent

2. All of the following Grade 12 courses: 
    - English Studies 12 or English First Peoples 12 (73%) or [equivalent](https://www.uvic.ca/undergraduate/admissions/language-requirements/)
    - Pre-calculus 12 (77%) or equivalent
    - Two approved Science 12 courses

3. All of the following Grade 11 courses: 
    - Approved English 11 or equivalent
    - Pre-calculus 11 or equivalent
    - Chemistry 11 or equivalent
    - Physics 11 or equivalent
    - Approved Social studies 11/12 or equivalent

Academic Admission Requirement

1. All applicants to UVic (regardless of country of origin or citizenship status) are required to demonstrate competence in the English language prior to admission. You can choose one of several ways to demonstrate language proficiency.You are not required to provide proof of language proficiency if you have studied full time for at least four years within Canada at the high school and/or post-secondary level, and all of your instruction has been in English.
2. Admission averages are calculated using all required Grade 12 courses for entry to a program. The actual admission average required for entry may be higher in the future due to increased competition and limited capacity.
3. You can declare this program as your major after one or more years of full-time study in the faculty of science

Online applications to UVIC should be submitted by the following application deadlines:						
    - January for September program entry			
    - September for January program entry			
    - March for May program entry
