This Bachelor of Education Post-Degree Professional Program (PDPP) in Elementary is for degree holders who want to teach elementary or middle school classes. After a combinaiton of academic and practicum experiences, you’ll graduate with a Bachelor of Education degree and be eligible to apply for a B.C. teaching certificate.

This program offers a [Elementary PDPP Francais](https://www.uvic.ca/education/curriculum/undergraduate/home/programs/frenchtep/index.php), which will prepare you for teaching in elementary schools in BC in the following programs: Core French, French Immersion, and Francophone Program.

1. Completion of an undergraduate degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, including the following: 

    - Three units of approved English (C+ average)
    - Competency in written English
    - Three units of approved Canadian Studies
    - Three units of approved Math (completed within the last 10 years) (C+ average)    
    - Three units of approved laboratory science (completed within the last 10 years) 
    - Most recent 12-unit session (or if your most recent session is less than 12 units on the most recent 12 consecutive units) (C+ average)
    - Most recently completed 30 units (up to December) (C+ average)

Notes: 
- The above courses can be completed in another Faculty at UVic or at another post-secondary institution
- At UVIC, the value of courses is given in units. Most courses at UVic that run for one term count for 1.5 units per course. For example, 3 units at UVic are equivalent to two (half-year) courses or 6 credits at most BC colleges and universities.

Academic Admission Requirement

1. Minimum of 75 hours of practical experience working with groups of children or youth at the age level you wish to teach (ages 5-12 for elementary)

3. Reflection on experience
4. Two reference letters

Additional Academic Admission Requirement

1. If you are missing any of the admission requirements, you may take them at UVic as a pre-education student.

Admission Advice

Applications must be submitted by the following dates for September program entry		
- January 2: online application along with the Summary of Experience and Reflection on Experience			
- January 2: first transcript showing grades for courses attempted by December, and if applicable, course registration for the period from January to April.			
- May : final transcript showing grades for all courses attempted by April.
