The Bachelor of Science in Applied Psychology is ideal for students interested in pursuing a health sciences career. This is also the Psychology degree program most suited for students who have an interest in neuroscience, particularly at the graduate level. The BSc is the most interdisciplinary of KPU's psychology degrees, exposing students to biology, chemistry, math, and physics in addition to a broad array of psychology courses. This degree is also very “hands-on” with students being exposed to lab and research experiences as well as developing technical writing skills and workplace expertise.

Academic Admission Requirement

1. If you are unable to satisfy the English proficiency requirement to enter the undergraduate program at KPU, you may be able to begin your studies through the Faculty’s pathway program. It may give you the option of taking English proficiency upgrading courses, while simultaneously taking a limited number of undergraduate courses at KPU before becoming eligible for admission to undergraduate studies.

2. Aside from program entry/admission requirements, there are also specific course registration requirements (called prerequisites) which are listed within each KPU course description. In order to register for individual courses and complete the program, you should make sure that you meet the course prerequisites. For example: first-year Science courses have the following prerequisites:
    - Direct entry into first-year Calculus (MATH 1130) requires at least Pre-Calculus 12 (C+)
    - Direct entry into first-year Physics (PHYS 1101) requires at least PHYS 1100 or Principles of Physics 12 (P)
    - Direct entry into first-year Chemistry (CHEM 1110) requires at least CHEM 1105 or Chemistry 12 (C+); and the Math prerequisite (Level C1 as per the Mathematic Alternatives Table).
    - Direct entry into first-year Biology (BIOL 1110) - requires at least English 12 (B) or equivalent. Biology 11 or 12 is not required but recommended as it offers a strong preparation.

3. KPU offers appropriate upgrading/qualifying courses if you are missing any prerequisites to register for courses in the Science program.
