This Esthetician Certificate includes theory, infection control and hands-on training in facials, body massage, body treatments, aromatherapy, makeup artistry, waxing, lash lifting and tinting, brow tinting, manicures, pedicures, and gel polish and overlays. You will use the basic principles of anatomy, physiology, microbiology, and chemistry to support the applied learning required by the program. You will also gain experience while performing services in a fully functioning on-site spa under the supervision of the esthetics instructor.

There are four ways to enter this Program. Choose from ONE OF the following options. 

**Option A.**
1. HIgh school graduation or equivalent
2. English 12 (C+) or equivalent
3. Math 12 (C) or equivalent
4. Science 10 (C+) or equivalent

**Option B.**
1. Completion of ESTR 037 (Intermediate-Level Essential Skills for Trades) with 67% or higher

**Option C.**
1. Completion of the following sections of the Canadian Adult Achievement Test (CAAT)*:
    - Reading Comprehension (11.0)
    - Number Operations (11.0)
    - Problem Solving (11.0)
    - Science (11.0)
        - *Note: Based on the results of the assessment(s), applicants may be required to participate in an assessment interview to determine admissibility. Interviews may be conducted virtually if necessary.

**Option D.**
1. Completion of NLC's POWER (People Obtaining Workplace Employment Requirements) program

Academic Admission Requirement

1. Dual credit students may enter the program by submitting secondary school transcripts indicating successful completion of Grade 10, including at least a C+ in all of English 10, Math 10 and a Grade 10 Science. 

2. After being accepted into the program but before classes begin, students over 19 years of age will be required to complete a Schedule Type B Criminal Record Check. Please contact NLC Admissions for more information. 

3. If you do not meet the above admission requirements, you can gain program entry by successfully completing appropriate assessments and/or upgrading courses. Feedback on the Assessments will be provided to help you make informed decisions about appropriate selection of upgrading courses. For more details, please contact a NLC advisor.

4. Esthetics Kit (including all necessary tools for the program) will be included in the instructional-related fees and provided at the beginning of the program. 

5. Students are required to have a computer (laptop or other mobile device) with the minimum NLC computer requirements.
