This instructional program class comprises any program that prepares individuals to cleanse, depilate, massage, and beautify the human body and to function as licensed estheticians and skin care specialists. These programs include courses in skin anatomy, physiology, and health; principles of nutrition; decontamination and infection control; health and safety; facial and body massage; body wrapping and spa treatments; temporary hair removal including waxing and tweezing; colour and skin analysis; client consultation and care; applicable laws and regulations; business practices; and sometimes related alternative healing regimens.

Esthetics Certificates

Estheticians, electrologists and workers in related occupations provide facial and body treatments designed to enhance an individual's physical appearance. They are employed in beauty salons, electrolysis studios, scalp treatment and hair replacement clinics and other similar establishments and in cosmetic departments of retail establishments such as pharmacies and department stores, or they may be self-employed.

Workers in other service support occupations perform a range of services. They are employed in a wide variety of establishments: places of employment are usually indicated in the job title.

In the Estehtics Certificate, participants will gain formal training to work in the spa industry and will attain sound knowledge around the operation of a salon business. This program prepares you to become a qualified professional in the Esthetics Industry. You'll participate in 800 hours of full-time education that includes a combination of theoretical and practical skills.  Related theoretical content will be delivered through lectures, demonstrations and various teaching aids in the classroom and will be continuously integrated into the practical work. You'll cover topics such as skin care, facials, hair removal, make-up design, face and body treatments and massage. You'll also learn about the salon business, professional development and personal development. You'll have an authentic industry experience training in a fully equipped spa where treatments are offered to the public.

Esthetics Certificate

This Esthetician Certificate covers esthetics and spa therapy. It includes theory, infection control and hands-on training in facials, body massage, body treatments, aromatherapy, makeup artistry, waxing, lash lifting and tinting, brow tinting, manicures, pedicures, and gel polish and overlays. You will use the basic principles of anatomy, physiology, microbiology, and chemistry to support the applied learning required by the program. Electrotherapy and sanitation procedures will be discussed and integrated throughout your studies. You will also gain experience while performing services in a fully functioning on-site spa under the supervision of the esthetics instructor.

Esthetician Certificate

The Esthetics and Spa Therapy certificate allows you to get expert industry training in facial treatments, manicure, pedicure, gel application, hair removal, makeup, and body massage while serving real clients at VCC’s state-of-the-art salon and spa.

Esthetics and Spa Therapy Certificate
