The Aircraft Maintenance Technician Diploma trains you to troubleshoot  and perform aircraft inspections, including airframe structures, engines and aircraft systems. You will learn to disassemble and remove defective parts, assemble and install replacement parts, interpret technical manuals, drawings and blueprints, test aircraft systems, record problems, take actions to rectify the issues and maintain an accurate statement of the maintenance history.

1. High school graduation or equivalent
2. English 11 (C) or equivalent
3. Pre-calculus 12 (C) or equivalent


Academic Admission Requirement

1. Dual credit students may enter the program by submitting secondary school transcripts indicating successful completion of Grade 11, including at least a grade of 'C' in English 11, Math 11 and a Grade 11 core science (preferably physics). One grade 10 shop class is also recommended.   

2. For out of province students, please visit program website for equivalency information of academic admission requirements. 
  
3. Students accomplish 1.5 years of training at the Okanagan College's Vernon Campus and the final semester of training at the Dawson Creek Campus. 

4. Applicants who have successfully completed the NLC Aircraft Mechanic Basics Certificate program may enter into Semester 3 of the Aircraft Maintenance Technician Diploma program.  

5. Students must provide safety equipment, including two pairs of full-sleeved coveralls, footwear having CSA safety-toe protection with soft soles for climbing on aircraft and CSA approved safety glasses with clear lenses.  

 6. Students are required to have a computer (laptop or other mobile device) with the minimum NLC computer requirements.
