The CAD Technician short certificate allows you to get a thorough, hands-on introduction to the Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) software and techniques used in home design, construction, renovations, and development work.

1. High school graduation or equivalent
2. English 12 or equivalent
3. Workplace Math 11 or equivalent or
 
VCC Basic Math Assessment with Basic Arithmetic (80%) and Basic Algebra (60%)

Academic Admission Requirement

1. You are recommended to have:
 
- Related work experience
- Excellent English communication skills
- Working knowledge of Windows OS
- Good mathematical and mechanical comprehension
- Ability to work in imperial and metric units of measurement
- General good health, good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
- Solid work habits and an ability to work well with others
- Logical reasoning and an ability to visualize objects
- An interest in all aspects of architecture, engineering, general construction and related fields

 

Additional Academic Admission Requirement

1. If you do not meet the English language requirement, you may still possibly be admitted at the discretion of the Department.
2. Applicants who self-identify as Indigenous are strongly encouraged to connect with VCC’s Indigenous Education and Community Engagement team to learn more about VCC’s Indigenous Enrolment policy, application preparation/completion, program advising, and a range of other individualized services.
3. Applicants must submit official transcripts and educational documents to support your application.
