The CAD Technician short certificate allows you to get a thorough, hands-on introduction to the Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) software and techniques used in home design, construction, renovations, and development work.

1. High school graduation or equivalent
2. English 12 or [equivalent](https://www.vcc.ca/applying/registration-services/english-language-proficiency-requirements/general-information/)
3. Math - one of:
   * Workplace Math 11 or equivalent
   * VCC Basic Math Assessment with Basic Arithmetic (80%) and Basic Algebra (60%)

Academic Admission Requirement

1. You are recommended to have:
 
- Related work experience
- Excellent English communication skills
- Working knowledge of Windows OS
- Good mathematical and mechanical comprehension
- Ability to work in imperial and metric units of measurement
- General good health, good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
- Solid work habits and an ability to work well with others
- Logical reasoning and an ability to visualize objects
- An interest in all aspects of architecture, engineering, general construction and related fields

 

Additional Academic Admission Requirement

1. If you do not meet the English language requirement, you may still possibly be admitted at the discretion of the Department.
2. Applicants who self-identify as Indigenous are strongly encouraged to connect with VCC’s Indigenous Education and Community Engagement team to learn more about VCC’s Indigenous Enrolment policy, application preparation/completion, program advising, and a range of other individualized services.
3. Applicants must submit official transcripts and educational documents to support your application.
4. You may be placed into Year 2 of the program if you have one of the following:
5. This program is available to Canadian citizens and permanent residents. Applicants must be 16 years of age or older or a graduate of a secondary school.
6. You may be placed into Year 2 of the program if you have one of the following:
   * Met all the above requirements and have completed high school Drafting 11 and 12 may, with Departmental approval, apply for   direct entry into term 2 of the program
   * completed level 1 of the VCC CAD Technician Short Certificate may apply for direct entry into term 2
