The Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) Certificate is fast paced, practical, hands-on and simulates the work environment. The program provides practicum experience in a dental office to provide you with hands-on experience to be job-ready when you graduate. The CDA program is fully accredited nationally. You'll learn about becoming a collaborative partner in the delivery of all aspects of dental care. CDA skills include assisting the dentist at chair-side, as well as providing direct client care.

1. High school graduation or equivalent
2. English 12 (C) or equivalent
3. Anatomy and Physiology 12 (C) or equivalent

Academic Admission Requirement

1. Attendance at a program information session is highly recommended

2. The following will be required upon acceptance into the Program:

attendance at the program orientation on the first day of class
current CPR (Basic Life Support) certificate which cannot expire before the completion of the program
a negative TB skin test or a negative chest x-ray (dated no more than 6 months prior to practicum start date)
evidence of current immunization status as per the Practice Education Guidelines of BC
Criminal Record Check (Camosun will send you information on how to complete your Criminal Record Check after you have been accepted to your program.)

Additional Academic Admission Requirement

1. After being accepted, you must attend the program orientation or risk losing your seat in the program.

2. Students are highly recommended to maintain current immunizations as per the Practice Education Guidelines of B.C. Recommended immunizations are found on the Health Sciences Placement Network of Canada website by searching for immunization guidelines. Failure to comply with immunization guidelines may result in student’s inability to successfully complete the clinical/practicum placement course and/or a clinical/community rotation.

Qualified applicants are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Early application is recommended.

If you are a current Grade 12 at a BC/Yukon high school, You can apply for conditional admission between September and May.
