The Environmental Engineering Joint UNBC/UBCV program is a 4.5-year (nine semester) joint degree between UBCV and the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC). If you are interested in engineering, and in preserving our natural environment, then Environmental Engineering could be for you. Environmental engineering is the application of science and engineering principles to improve air, land, water, and living systems for a healthy environment.

1. High school graduation or equivalent

2. English 12 and English 11 or their equivalents (70% in one of them)

3. Minimum six academic/non-academic Grade 12 courses (recommended)

4. Pre-Calculus 12 or equivalent 

5. Chemistry 12 or equivalent

6. Physics 12 or equivalent

7. Pre-Calculus 11 or Foundations of Math 12 or equivalent 

8. Chemistry 11 or equivalent

9. Physics 11 or equivalent

10. A Language 11 or Waiver (includes all second language courses, excludes introductory language 11 courses)

11. Grades presented in all relevant academic Grade 11 and Grade 12 courses that fall under these subject categories* will be looked at:
    - Language Arts
    - Mathematics & Computation
    - Sciences
        - *Note: There is no minimum number of courses required for admission, but you are encouraged to challenge yourself with a substantial number of courses that are relevant to your intended area of study.

Additional Academic Admission Requirement

1. Minimum average of 85% is required for high school graduates to be considered for admission to UBCV Engineering. The admission average varies each year depending on the GPA's of the cohort of applicants.

2. Years one and two focus on a foundation in mathematics, basic sciences and environmental sciences from UNBC. Years three and four offer training in engineering fundamentals, engineering analysis and engineering design at UBCV. The final term at UNBC exposes students to practical environmental engineering problems.

Admission Advice

Applications must be submitted for most programs by January for September entry. Early application is recommended. Confirm dates with UBCV.
Exceptions of certain programs are available on UBCV Vancouver Academic Calendar 2023/24.
