In the Bachelor of Commerce Degree is to develop your business skills in a collaborative and innovative environment. You have the option to expand your perspectives by studying abroad. You'll gain relevant work experience in the mandatory co-op program as you complete your degree.

There are three different admission categories:

Option A. Year-1 Admission from High School:

1. High school graduation or equivalent

2. All of the following Grade 12 courses:
    - English 12 (67%) or equivalent
    - Pre-calculus (67%) or equivalent
    - Two approved academic 12 courses

3. All of the following Grade 11 courses: 
    - English 11 or equivalent
    - Foundations of Mathematics 11 or Pre-calculus 11 or equivalent
    - Science 11 or equivalent
    - Social studies 11 or equivalent

Notes:
All required Grade 12 high school courses (80% average)

Option B. Year-2 Admission
1. Most recent 8 undergraduate-level courses (= 12 UVIC units) (B- average)

2. Five required courses (as listed below) (B- average), with no mark lower than 'C+' in each course. Preference will be given to applicants who have completed at least two of the five required courses by the application deadline (January):
    - ECON 103
    - Two university-level English Academic Writing courses chosen from ENGL 135, ENGL 146, ENGL 147, ENGL 225
    - Two university-level Math courses (Chosen from one of the following combinations):
    - MATH 151 and STAT 252
    - STAT 255 and STAT 256
    - ECON 245 and ECON 246

Option C. Year 3 Admission
1. Most recent 8 undergraduate-level courses (= 12 UVIC units) (B- average)

2. Five required courses (as listed below) (B- average), with no mark lower than 'C+' in each course. Preference will be given to applicants who have completed at least three of the five required courses by the application deadline (January 31):
    - ECON 103
    - Two English Academic Writing courses chosen from ENGL 135, ENGL 146, ENGL 147, ENGL 225
    - Two university-level Math courses (selected from one of the following combinations):
    - MATH 151 and STAT 252
    -STAT 255 and STAT 256
    - ECON 245 and ECON 246

3. If you are an international student, you also need to complete COM 206C and COM 290.

1. If you are studying under an IB curriculum or a non-Canadian curriculum, please click to see specific requirements.

2. At UVic, the value of courses is given in units. Most courses at UVic that run for one term count for 1.5 units per course.

3. For students who study at another post-secondary institution in BC, you can use BC Transfer Guide to search course equivalency and transferability.  

4. Assessment of your application: your grades will count for 60% of your application, and your supplemental application will count for the remaining 40%.

5. All applicants to UVic (regardless of country of origin or citizenship status) are required to demonstrate competence in the English language prior to admission. You can choose one of several ways to demonstrate language proficiency. You are not required to provide proof of language proficiency if you have studied full time for at least four years within Canada at the high school and/or post-secondary level, and all of your instruction has been in English.

Proof of English language proficiency: typically one month after the application deadline. Your language-proficiency deadline will be indicated in your online application checklist after you submit your online application to UVic.
