Overview

Corporate sales managers plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the activities of establishments and departments involved in commercial, industrial, institutional, e-business and wholesale and retail sales. They are employed by commercial, industrial and wholesale and retail trade establishments.

This group performs some or all of the following duties:

  • Plan direct and evaluate the activities of sales departments in commercial, industrial, wholesale and retail and other establishments

  • Organize regional and divisional sales operations

  • Establish organizational policies and procedures in relation to sales

  • Determine strategic planning related to new product lines

  • Lead sales team in building relationships with business clients and manage negotiations of sales contracts

  • Recruit, organize, train and manage staff

  • May work with the marketing department to understand and communicate marketing messages to the field.

Certified Sales Associate (CSA) - Corporate Sales Managers

To work as a corporate sales manager in B.C., you may choose to earn the Certified Sales Associate (CSA) designation. Eligibility is achieved through attaining a Canadian Professional Sales Association (CPSA) Institute Sales Certificate, or 35 hours of accredited pre-requisite education in sales aligned with the Sales Professional Competency Framework. You must also have a minimum of 6 months of verified sales experience in client-facing roles.

Employment as a corporate sales manager usually requires several years of related work experience.

Certified Sales Professional (CSP®) - Corporate Sales Managers

To work as a corporate sales manager in B.C., you may choose to earn the Certified Sales Professional (CSP®) designation. Eligibility is achieved after you have a college diploma and accumulated 35 hours of accredited pre-requisite education in sales aligned to the Sales Professional Competency Framework, a minimum of 4 years of verified experience independently managing client accounts, and evidence of meeting/exceeding targets for at least 2 of those years.

Employment as a corporate sales manager usually requires several years of related work experience.

Certified Sales Leader (CSL®) - Corporate Sales Managers

To work as a corporate sales manager in B.C., you may choose to earn the Certified Sales Leader designation. Eligibility is achieved through the completion of a university degree, 35 hours of pre-requisite education aligned with the Sales Leader Competency Framework, and 6 years of cumulative work experience.
