The Professional Indigenous Lands Management Certificate is for individuals who are interested in Indigenous lands management, land use planning, community planning, or other topic areas relating to Indigenous communities, issues of sustainability, resource management, and a changing regulatory landscape.

1. Students completing this certificate concurrent with and embedded within a VIU degree or diploma do not need to apply to this program. They should let their degree or diploma advisor, program coordinator, or the Registration Centre know of their intention. 
2. One of:

    - High school graduation (or equivalent) with English 12 or English 12 First Peoples (C)
    - A university degree
    - Be a visiting student from a college or university (a “Letter of Permission” from home institution required)
    - Be a transfer student from a college or university with at least 24 university transfer credits
    - Mature student status (be at least 21 years old in your first semester) and English 12 or English 12 First Peoples (C)

Note: If you don't meet any of the admission categories, you may be admitted as an "Unclassified Student" to register into university-level courses which you meet the prerequisites. You will register after other students, so course availability will be limited.


Academic Admission Requirement

1. Preference will be given to sponsored students, approved by the National Aboriginal Lands Manager Association (NALMA), who will ladder this Certificate into the NALMA Program Level II Technical Training. To qualify you must submit proof of sponsorship to the Admissions Office within two weeks of the application deadline. 
2. Students who meet or exceed the minimum admission requirements may not necessarily be admitted to the program. Students must hold English 12 or equivalent to be admitted into the program.

Applications are accepted for September entry until late July. Early application is recommended. This program is available to domestic applicants only.
