The University Transfer Molecular Biology and Biochemistry Certificate allows you to complete first-year molecular biology and biochemistry at VCC and transfer directly into second-year degree programs at Simon Fraser University (SFU). For the assured pathways to SFU, the maximum time for completion is 16 months. For the competitive admission to SFU, the maximum time for completion is 3 years.

1. High school graduation or equivalent
2. English 12 (C+) or [equivalent](https://www.vcc.ca/applying/registration-services/english-language-proficiency-requirements/general-information/)
3. Pre-calculus 12 (B) or equivalent

Academic Admission Requirement

1. For course registration and program completion purposes, you should make sure that you meet the prerequisites for the Arts and/or Science courses in the program. For example, you need Chemistry 12 to enroll in CHEM 1121. 
2. Specific post-secondary courses may be used to substitute for high school courses. 
3. This program is available to Canadian citizens and permanent residents. Applicants must be 16 years of age or older or a graduate of a secondary school.
4. Applicants who self-identify as Indigenous are strongly encourages to connect with VCC's Indigenous Education and Community Engagement team to learn more about VCC's Indigenous Enrolment policy and services.
5. If you are missing any prerequisites, VCC offers academic upgrading, English as a Second Language courses, and university transfer options. Applicants must submit official transcripts and other documents as required by their course or program.
6. Recommended characteristics:
    - Demonstrate proficiency in the English language with excellent oral and written communication skills.
    - Motivated and positive attitude towards learning.
    - Possess analytical and critical thinking skills.
    - Some word processing experience and basic computer skills required.
