The University Transfer Computing Science and Software Systems certificate explores incorporating critical thinking into theoretical reasoning and decision making, utilizes information literacy to determine the nature and extent of information required. Students will apply scientific and quantitative methodology, analytical skills, and problem-solving in math and computer programming skills. 

This program has several options:
1. SFU Software Systems Transfer
    
    -   Software Systems Pathway (Assured - 16 months to complete VCC courses)
    -   Software Systems Pathway (Competitive admission - maximum 3 years to complete VCC courses)

2. UBC BSc in Computer Science Transfer (Competitive 
   admission)
3. UBC BA in Computer Science Transfer (Competitive admission)

1. High school graduation or equivalent
2. English 12 (C+) or [equivalent](https://www.vcc.ca/applying/registration-services/english-language-proficiency-requirements/general-information/)
3. Math - one of:
    - Pre-calculus 12 (B) or equivalent
    - MATH 0983 (B) and MATH 0993 (B) or equivalent
    - MATH 1020 (C) or equivalent
    - VCC Math Pre-calculus Assessment test (72%)
4. Science - one of:
    - Physics 12 (C+) or PHYS 0983 (C+) and PHYS 0993 (C+) or equivalent
    - Chemistry 12 (C+) or CHEM 0983 (C+) and CHEM 0993 (C+) or equivalent
    - Anatomy and Physiology 12 (C+) (formerly called Biology 12) or BIOL 0983 (C+) and BIOL 0993 (C+) or equivalent

Academic Admission Requirement

1. Specific post-secondary courses may be used to substitute for high school courses. 
2. This program is available to Canadian citizens and permanent residents. Applicants must be 16 years of age or older or a graduate of a secondary school.
3. Applicants who self-identify as Indigenous are strongly encourages to connect with VCC's Indigenous Education and Community Engagement team to learn more about VCC's Indigenous Enrolment policy and services.
4. If you are missing any prerequisites, VCC offers academic upgrading, English as a Second Language courses, and university transfer options. Applicants must submit official transcripts and other documents as required by their course or program.
5. Recommended characteristics:

    - Demonstrate proficiency in the English language with excellent oral and written communication skills.
    - Motivated and positive attitude towards learning.
    - Possess analytical and critical thinking skills.
    - Some word processing experience and basic computer skills required.
