The Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Art History and Visual Studies is about the rich visual traditions of world cultures. Explore the basics of visual communication while learning about the history of artistic materials and techniques. Study everything from museum studies and art forgery to video games and horror films. You have the option of completing this program with a co-op placement.

1. High school graduation or equivalent
2. All of the following Grade 12 courses:
   * English 12 (73%) or [equivalent](https://www.uvic.ca/undergraduate/admissions/language-requirements/)
   * Two [approved ](https://www.uvic.ca/undergraduate/admissions/how-to-apply/approved-high-school-courses/bc-yukon/)academic 12 courses
   * One additional approved academic 12 or approved fine arts 12
3. All of the following Grade 11 courses
   * English 11 or equivalent
   * Three courses from:
     * Foundations of Mathematics 11 or Pre-calculus 11 or equivalent
     * Science 11 or equivalent
     * Fine arts 11 or equivalent
   * Social Studies 11/12 or equivalent

Academic Admission Requirement

1. All applicants to UVic (regardless of country of origin or citizenship status) are required to demonstrate competence in the [English language](https://www.uvic.ca/undergraduate/admissions/language-requirements/) prior to admission. You can choose one of several ways to demonstrate language proficiency. You are not required to provide proof of language proficiency if you have studied full time for at least four years within Canada at the high school and/or post-secondary level, and all of your instruction has been in English.
2. Admission averages are calculated using all required Grade 12 courses for entry to a program. The actual admission average required for entry may be higher in the future due to increased competition and limited capacity.

    - September for January program entry			
    - March for May program entry
