The Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree allows you to choose from a range of majors and minors that will develop your artistic skill and teach you how to navigate the creative arts industry. You'll be able to choose to specialize in visual arts, graphic design, art history and visual studies, media and communication studies, and more.

Option A. For students with high school graduation

1\. High school graduation or equivalent
 
2\. English 12 (C+) or English First Peoples 12 

Option B. For Students with some post-secondary education
 
1\. One of:
    - Minimum 15 university-level credits in BFA-related disciplines (C+ or 2.00 GPA), and on all courses attempted (C or 2.0 CGPA)
    - UFV Diploma in Visual Arts, Graphic and Digital Design, or Theatre
    - UFV Associate of Arts Degree with an option in Theatre or Media and Communication Studies (MACS).
 
2\. Meet the Degree/diploma level [English language proficiency](https://www.ufv.ca/calendar/current/General/EnglishProficiency.htm) requirement 
 
Option C. For Students with post-secondary education, but not in BFA-related courses

1. Minimum CGPA of 2.00 on all post-secondary credits
2. Meet the Degree/diploma level English language proficiency requirement



Academic Admission Requirement

Option A. and C.
1\. Portfolio of recent art works and accompanying documentation

Additional Academic Admission Requirement

1. Applicants who do not meet the requirements for entrance under Option B will be considered under Option A, and will need to submit a portfolio of work to determine eligibility. Applications who do not meet requirements of Option A and Option B may be considered for entry to the Visual Arts Diploma or Qualifying Studies.  
 
2. Follow the portfolio requirements/guidelines on either the Visual Arts website or Graphic and Digital Design website. The portfolio is not due at the time of application, but must be submitted online for review by the portfolio submission deadline. 
 
3. Basis for admission decision:
    - Applicants in Option A (direct entry from high school) will be notified of their admission status after the portfolio review process is completed
    - Applicants who meet the Option B entrance requirements will be admitted in an order of their application date. This date is set when an application, all required documentation, and the application fee have been submitted. 
 
4. Students pursuing a major in Graphic and Digital Design are required to have a MacBook Pro laptop configured as per Graphic and Digital Design specifications. The cost ranges between $2,500 to $3,500.

Admission Advice

Application and portfolio submission deadlines for specific intake applications:

Fall semester: April; Winter semester: September

Portfolio submission is required only for applicants following the entrance requirements of direct-entry from high school.
