The Social Service Worker Diploma prepares you to work in social service agencies and schools. Graduates work in a variety of settings, including corrections, family support, Indigenous services, mental health, residential care, settlement services, substance use, and women’s services.

1\. One of:
 
\- High school graduation (C average) or equivalent
\- Completion of minimum nine credits at the post-secondary level which can be applied to the Social Service Worker Diploma program (2.0 GPA)
 
2\. Degree/Diploma Level English Language proficiency

Academic Admission Requirement

1\. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in social services is required. Evidence of this may include volunteer and/or paid work in social service settings. This is demonstrated through submission of the Additional Application Information Form. 

2\. Two recent, satisfactory letters of reference from employers, teachers, or volunteer supervisors who are qualified to comment on the applicant's ability to work in the social service field. These must be on reference forms available from the School of Social Work and Human Services.

Additional Academic Admission Requirement

1. In addition to submitting an online application to UFV, you are required to submit additional program application form. 
 
2. Applications will be assessed using a points rating system. Points are awarded for education performance, related work and/or volunteer experience, personal statement, demonstrated writing ability and the reference letters. Qualified applicants who score above the required threshold will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Admission Advice

Applications are accepted for entrance to the Fall semester only. 
 
Qualified applicants on the basis of point-rating system are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. You are required to submit your application, including all required documents, before January 31.
