The General First Nations Studies Certificate is a multidisciplinary program allowing you to pursue your interests in First Nations Studies through a concentrated program of courses on First Nations subjects. The program ladders well into a major in First Nations Studies, Anthropology, Biology, History, Education, English, Environmental Studies, Forestry, Geography, Nursing and Community Health, Political Science, Psychology, Social Work and Women's Studies.

1. Meet the general UNBC undergraduate admission requirements (which is high school graduation with an acceptable average grade calculated based on the five best Grade 12 courses from the approved list for the intended Degree Group). 
2. Meet with a First Nations Studies undergraduate student advisor.

Academic Admission Requirement

1. The Certificate program allows either a short term exit (upon completion of Certificate graduation requirements) or the option of laddering into a Bachelor's Degree program. All courses in the Certificate are university-credit courses. This means that students can apply credit taken in their Certificate to other programs should they later decide to pursue a Bachelor’s degree.

Admission Advice

Early applications are accepted up to one year in advance of the intended start date. The application deadline is March for the September and May entry, and November for the January entry. Students are encouraged to apply early in advance of application deadlines. Deadlines are subject to change and may be extended depending on seats availability. Verify with the institution for specific dates.

For international students, applications are not encouraged for the May semester, unless applicants are transferring from a Canadian post-secondary institution.
