The Bachelor of Arts in International Relations critically examines global issues and interactions between state and non-state actors. The program draws on diverse disciplines in political science, history, sociology, economics, and anthropology. You can participate in co-op education placements to broad your skills and gain hands-on experience in your field of study.

Students must be admitted into Bachelor of Arts to pursue this program. 

1. High school graduation or equivalent

2. English Studies 12 or English First Peoples 12 or [equivalent](https://you.ubc.ca/applying-ubc/requirements/english-language-competency/) 

3. Minimum six academic/non-academic Grade 12 courses (recommended)

4. The following subject categories are particularly relevant for this degree. Consider taking courses in these areas in Grade 11 and Grade 12.
    - Language Arts
    - Mathematics and Computation
    - Second Languages
    - Social Studies 
    - Visual and Performing Arts 

*Note: There is no minimum number of courses required for admission, but you are encouraged to challenge yourself with a substantial number of courses that are relevant to your intended area of study.

1. As a general admission requirement, one of English Studies 11, English Studies 12 or their equivalents is required. However, English 12 Studies or equivalent is specified as a requirement into the program.

2. Students may declare a Major or Minor with this Bachelor of Arts degree. While coursework usually starts in the first-year, the Major can be declared after either 27 or 54 undergraduate credits depending on the program. Login to Workday for more details. 

3. There is no Honours option available for the International Relations - Bachelor of Arts program.
