The Bachelor of Applied Science in Civil Engineering provides a broad understanding of the field of engineering that deals with the planning, construction, and maintenance of fixed structures and public works. Immersed in active industry and community involvement through a co-operative education You will gain practical experience building technical skills and industry networks.

1. High school graduation or equivalent

2. Minimum 6 academic/non-academic Grade 12 courses (recommended)

3. English Studies 12 or English First Peoples 12 or [equivalent](https://you.ubc.ca/applying-ubc/requirements/english-language-competency/) 

4. Pre-Calculus 12 or equivalent

5. Chemistry 11 and Chemistry 12 or equivalent (outstanding candidates missing Chemistry 12 or equivalent are encouraged to apply and will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis)

6. Physics 11 and Physics 12 or equivalent (outstanding candidates missing Physics 12 or equivalent are encouraged to apply and will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis)

7. The following subject categories are particularly relevant for this degree. Consider taking courses in these areas in Grade 11 and Grade 12.
- Language Arts
- Mathematics and Computation
- Sciences

*Note: There is no minimum number of courses required for admission, but you are encouraged to challenge yourself with a substantial number of courses that are relevant to your intended area of study.

1. Students in any of the following categories may also qualify for admission into the UBCV Engineering program:

    - High school graduates;
    - Applicants who have completed first-year Science at UBCV;
    - University or college transfer students;
    - Graduates of a UBCV Engineering Transfer Program;
    - Graduates of a two-year technology diploma.

2. Student admitted into the UBCV Engineering program directly from secondary school will begin with a common first-year Engineering curriculum (Engineering One). Upon fulfilling the first-year engineering program requirements, you will have the option of:

    - Continuing in the second-year of the integrated Engineering program (Engineering Two) at the UBCV Okanagan campus, followed by program specialization in the third and forth years (in one of the following specializations: Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering); OR
    - Transfer to the UBCV Vancouver campus (into one of the following specializations at 2nd-year level: Biomedical Engineering, Chemical and Biological Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Geological Engineering, Integrated Engineering, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Mining Engineering.)

3. Admission to all of the above-noted specialization programs is dependent on performance in first year.
