The Bachelor Degree in Midwifery provides classroom education and clinical experience to meet the core competencies for midwifery practice published by the Canadian Midwifery Regulators Council and the BC College of Nurses and Midwives.

1. BIOL 155 (Human Biology: Physiology and Introductory Anatomy) or equivalent (six credits)
    - Note: This course must have been completed within 5 years of entrance into Year 1 of the program

2. UBC WRDS 150 (Writing and Research in the Disciplines) or equivalent (three credits)
    - If you have completed a university degree, this requirement will be waived

3. Completion of 24 transferable post-secondary credits is highly recommended 
    - If you have completed less than 24 post-secondary credits, your GPA will be determined using a combination of your high school performance and any post-secondary studies 
  

Academic Admission Requirement

1. Supplemental Application

2. Interview (top 40 candidates will be selected for an interview, 5 candidates will be waitlisted in case an applicant drops out/cannot complete the interview process)

3. Meet the minimum immunization requirements (students will receive documentation outlining these requirements on admission to the Midwifery Program)



Additional Academic Admission Requirement

1. If you have at least 24 transferrable post-secondary credits, you will be evaluated on your post-secondary academic performance. If you have less than 24 transferrable post-secondary credits, you will be evaluated based on both high school and post-secondary academic performance.

4. Students interested in the Bachelor of Midwifery program must complete two applications:
    - Online application for admission to UBC (deadline: December 5)
    - Online supplemental application to the Midwifery program (deadline: January 15)

5. Admission to the four-year Bachelor of Midwifery will be offered to those students who not only demonstrate academic potential but also demonstrate the qualities, commitment, and motivation to practice as a midwife. Candidates may be invited for an interview at the discretion of the Admissions Committee.

6. The Midwifery Program reserves seats for qualifying Indigenous students each year. Students may self-identify as Indigenous on their university application or through the Midwifery Supplemental Application. 

7. Midwifery Program is currently restricted to Canadian applicants, with preference given to B.C. residents.

The deadline of Midwifery online supplemental application is January.
