The Adventure Guide Certificate allows you to explore a career in adventure-related fields. This program combines classroom instruction with courses in wilderness travel, canoeing, rock climbing, mountaineering, whitewater kayaking and more. Your Adventure Guide Certificate credits count towards completion of an Adventure Guide Diploma or degree concentration.

1. One of:
    - High school graduation or equivalent
    - Minimum 19 years of age
2. English 12 (73%) or equivalent
3. Math 11 or equivalent

Academic Admission Requirement

1. Minimum 19 years of age by the start of the program
2. Attendance at a program information session in person or by telephone
3. Completion of the Adventure Guide Diploma Student Information Form (in addition to submitting an online application to TRU)
4. Resume
5. Cover Letter
6. Two reference letters that speak to your character and personality
7. Letter of Intent
8. Outdoor Experience Log (all outdoor experiences outside of course time during the past year)

Additional Academic Admission Requirement

1. Applicants are required to attend a program information session (see dates and locations) before submitting your online application. 

2. The program is physically demanding. Students must arrive in good physical condition suitable for participating in strenuous outdoor activities.

3. You must possess medical coverage and will be required to have additional coverage for any course held in foreign countries, including the US.

4. You can take upgrading courses at TRU to help you meet the admission requirements of this program. You are encouraged to talk to TRU's student recruiter about your options. 

5. Entry is competitive and applications are screened to ensure an adequate level of outdoor recreation experience has been attained prior to entry to TRU.

Qualified applicants are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Early application is strongly recommended.
