The Bachelor of Science Degree in Actuarial Science focuses on mathematics, statistics, economics and finance to become prepared for professional exams. You'll learn to study, quantify, and manage financial risk by taking courses in  business, economics, mathematics and statistics. After graduation, you'll find employment in areas such as life insurance, financial markets or currency exchange.

1. High school graduation or equivalent

2. English 12 (70%) or equivalent

3. English 11 or [equivalent](https://www.sfu.ca/students/admission/admission-requirements/english-language-requirement.html) 

4. Pre-Calculus 12 or equivalent

5. Math 11 or equivalent 

6. Social Studies 11 or equivalent 

7. Chemistry 11 and Physics 11 or their equivalents 

8. Two of:

    - Biology 12 
    - Calculus 12 
    - Chemistry 12 
    - Physics 12 
    - Equivalent

9. Any approved Language 11 or equivalent

10. Minimum five approved Grade 12 courses

11. One additional from List A or List B

Academic Admission Requirement

1. All equivalent courses can be found in either List A or List B under requirements of the institution's program website.

2. Admission is based on an evaluation of all approved Grade 11 and 12 courses, with greater emphasis on List A courses than List B. Equivalent AP or IB courses may be used in place of certain courses - see the institution's website for details.

3. Starting in 2023, there is direct admission to the Actuarial Science major program from high school and through the college/post-secondary transfer pathway. Students interested in pursuing actuarial science should apply to the Faculty of Science and select Actuarial Science as their program.

4. Actuarial Science Advisor can support:

    - If a student applies and is accepted into a different Faculty (e.g., if they do not meet the admission requirements for the Faculty of Science). Admission to the Actuarial Science program is possible if a student is currently in a program outside of Faculty of Science at SFU and is interested in getting into the Actuarial Science program.

5. Admission to this program is competitive.

6. Application to the Co-op Education Program is usually done within the first year of study or, at a minimum, two semesters before an intended work semester.

- Post-secondary/transfer applicants: October to February
- January intake: August to September
- May intake: October to January
