The English as a Second Language (ESL) program provides Second Language you a pathway to academic success in post-secondary programming.  By completing this program, you will meet the English entrance requirements for a variety of post-secondary programs and will enhance their communications skills for employment.

1. High school graduation or equivalent
2. One of:
    - CaMLA (25 or higher) and a writing sample; or
    - Permission of instructor for CaMLA (if score under 25)

Academic Admission Requirement

1. Regardless of existing English test results, all new NLC ESL students will be required to complete the CaMLA English Placement Test and writing test sample administered at NLC. To view which level of EASL your CaMLA scores are associated with, visit the program website. 

2. International students should contact the International Department for application deadlines specific to their situation. 

3. Domestic students (Canadian citizens, permanent residents/landed immigrants, convention refugees) are eligible to apply for the Adult Upgrading Grant (AUG).

Qualified applicants are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Early application is recommended.
