The Theatre Arts at Studio 58 Diploma (Acting) is designed to prepare you for a professional career in theatre, film, television, and related arts. Particular emphasis is placed on the development of an integrated voice and body as an expressive tool. Communication with the audience and fellow actors is stressed. 1. High school graduation or equivalent

Academic Admission Requirement

1. Audition: You must demonstrate sufficient talent with the potential to become a professional in theatre arts. You must also show a high degree of commitment to pursuing a professional career in theatre, film, TV or related area. 

Additional Academic Admission Requirement

1\. Auditions are held in late April each year. For those located within the Lower Mainland, auditions are held in person. Online auditions are available for candidates located outside of the Lower Mainland.
2\. It is recommended that you:
Are at least 19 years old at the time of your audition;
Have at least two years of post-secondary education and/or work experience (does not have to be related to theatre arts)
Are financially able to support yourself without having to work during the program. Theatre Arts students are requested to put in long and irregular hours, including evenings and weekends which makes having an outside job difficult.
3\. Students enrolled in the Acting Option are not permitted to take any performing jobs while registered without express permission from the Artistic Director. Senior students sometimes are given the opportunity to gain additional experience by working with professional theatres in Vancouver or working on a film/TV project.
4\. Check the prerequisites in the course descriptions required for your program. For example, you may need to write a placement test or to take one or more additional English courses in order to meet the prerequisite requirements of the first-year English courses required in this program. Check the prerequisite(s) in the course description for courses required in your Program.

Admission Advice

Applications may be submitted starting 11 months before the intended program start date. Early application is recommended.

Application Deadline is April 13 for September and January program-start dates. Auditions take place in April.
