The Hearing Aid Sciences Diploma gives you the skills and training to help improve the quality of life for people with hearing loss. The only program of its kind in B.C., this two-year hearing instrument specialist program teaches you how to dispense and program hearing aids, test people’s hearing and counsel patients on managing ongoing hearing loss.

Once you graduate, you’ll be ready to apply for the Hearing Instrument Practitioner (HIP) Internship. This internship, done through the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC), is a necessary step to becoming a Registered Hearing Instrument Practitioner (RHIP) in B.C.

1. High school graduation or equivalent or
    - One course short of B.C. secondary school graduation
    - 19 years old by the end of the first month of the first semester of attendance
    - 17 years old on the first day of the first semester of attendance and has not been in school for at least one year
    - Completion of a certificate or equivalent from a special needs program and has been in school for 12 years, or has received an Evergreen or Leaving School Certificate

3. One of:
    - Foundations of Math 11 (C) or equivalent
    - Foundations of Math 12 (C) or equivalent
    - Pre-Calculus 11 (C) or equivalent

2. Criminal Record Check (CRC) - This program requires students to train in an environment that requires individuals to provide proof of a satisfactorily completed, current CRC for the protection of the clients. To meet this requirement, prospective students must submit to a current CRC as a condition of entry to the program. All costs related to the completion of this search are the responsibility of the individual student.  The Registrar's Office will provide instructions on obtaining a CRC after an offer of admission is made
3. Applicants may be required to attend a personal interview that will be used for the purposes of providing information and academic counseling

Admissions to open-enrollment programs are offered on a first-qualified, first-admitted basis. Students are encouraged to apply early.

- September intake- applications typically open in early October of the previous year until late August / early September.
- January intake- applications typically open in early February of the previous year until late December / early January.
- May intake- applications typically open in early June of the previous year until late April / early May.
