Overview

Coast Mountain College (CMTN) offers a wide range of in-person, online, and blended programs for students from Northwest British Columbia, across Canada, and around the world. As an accredited public post-secondary institution, CMTN provides university transfer courses, associate’s degrees, diplomas, post-degree diplomas, trades and apprenticeship training, adult upgrading, and field schools. Program highlights include nursing, business administration, carpentry, Applied Coastal Ecology (the only program of its kind in BC), and the only First Nations Fine Art program in Canada that is focused on Northwest Coast Art.

The main campus in Terrace features modern student housing, a cafeteria and cafe, a health and wellness centre, a library, and a fitness centre. CMTN is also proud to be the first post-secondary institution in Canada with a traditional Longhouse on campus. Additional campuses in Prince Rupert and Smithers offer students a welcoming, community-focused learning experience.

Students at CMTN benefit from small class sizes, dedicated instructors, and hands-on learning connected to the people, cultures, and natural environments of Northwest BC. CMTN also offers many student supports, including educational advisors, First Nations access coordinators, and learning assistance specialists.

With a commitment to creating welcoming learning spaces for all students, CMTN supports Indigenous education and helps students build practical skills, gain confidence, and prepare for careers or further education in their desired field.
