Admission requirements vary by program but, at a minimum, most CapU programs require successful completion of:

- B.C. secondary school (Grade 12) or equivalent
- BC Adult Dogwood Graduation Diploma
- General Education Diploma

- At least 60% grade point average calculated on:
- English Studies 12, or English 12, or English First Peoples 12; and

- Once you are admitted and for program completion purpose, you may need to pass the [English Diagnostic Test](https://www.capilanou.ca/student-services/academic-services/learning-support/skills-assessment-tests/english-diagnostic-test-edt/?utm_source=student-life/academic-support/learning-resources/english-diagnostic-test&utm_medium=web&utm_campaign=Redirect) if you are taking English 100, and/or the [Math Placement Test](https://www.capilanou.ca/student-services/academic-services/learning-support/skills-assessment-tests/math-placement-test-mpt/?utm_source=student-life/academic-support/learning-resources/math-placement-test-mpt&utm_medium=web&utm_campaign=Redirect) to gain admission to certain entry-level Math courses.

If you do not meet the academic requirements for program entry, you have the option of taking academic upgrading courses in order to upgrade your qualifications for future admissions.

High school students with superior academic records may apply for limited admission which will allow enrollment in one or two university-level Arts and Sciences courses while still attending secondary school.

Students must meet one of the following:
- English Studies 12 (C+) or English First Peoples 12 (C+) and two years of full-time high school education in Canada
- Advanced Placement (AP) English Language/Composition or English Literature/Composition = at least a score of 4
- International Baccalaureate (IB) English Language A higher level = at least a score of 5
- At least four (4) consecutive years of full-time education in English in Canada, or another English-speaking country
- At least four (4) consecutive years of full time education at an eligible English-speaking High School in a country where English is not the primary language
- An English Language Assessment Test in one of:
    * TOEFL = at least a score of 560 paper-based or 83 internet-based
    * International English Language Testing System (Academic IELTS) = at least 6.5 overall and no sub score less than 6
    * Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL) Assessment = at least a score of 70
    * Pearson Test of English (PTE Academic) = at least a score of 56
    * DET (Duolingo English Test) = at least a score of 125 with no sub-score less than 115
    * Capilano University EAP 100 (B+) and EAP 101 (B+)
    * 6 credits of transferable English at the post-secondary level
    * Completion of a recognized degree program at an accredited university at which English is the primary language of instruction in a country where English is the 
       principle language.

Students who do not qualify under one of the above requirements may submit a request for a waiver of the English Language Requirement form to the attention of Admissions in the Registrar's Office.
