The Bachelor of Accounting consists of eight Advanced Technical Specialty courses and 36 credits of General Education. Full-time domestic students also have the option to complete a Workplace Education component. If you have completed a Accounting, Finance, or Financial Planning diploma, you can earn your Bachelor of Accounting (BAcc). This degree will provide you with an academic credential leading to a CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant) designation, a MPAcc (Master of Professional Accounting), or an MBA program. Students completing this program will acquire the key technical, interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills demanded by employers.

**Full-time: Competitive Entry**

- This program has a two-step admission process. Applicants must meet all  to be considered. All applications will be reviewed by the program area at the application deadline. Admission is competitive and will be offered to the most qualified applicants.

- Due to the extensive content covered in the BCIT Accounting and Finance Diploma programs, the majority of students accepted into the Bachelor of Accounting have completed a BCIT diploma. If the applicant has completed a diploma at another institution, they should email an unofficial pdf copy of their transcript to bachelor_accounting@bcit.ca for review by the department before proceeding with the application process.

- Applicants who are currently enrolled in a diploma must be on track to complete all entrance requirements prior to the start of the intake that they are applying for.

**Part-time:**
This program has a two-step admission process. Applicants must meet all and will be accepted on a first qualified basis.

1. Step 1 for all applicants: Pre-entry assessment by the department

   - Applicants are required to complete a pre-entry assessment form to have their education assessed by the program area:
       - Complete Part A and B of the Pre-Entry Assessment form
       - Save the form as a PDF document and email it as an attachment to bachelor_accounting@bcit.ca
       - A program representative will contact you with instructions regarding next steps. In some cases, you may be asked to attend a program information session or to meet with the program head. You may be required to complete a bridging program or upgrade your marks in specific prerequisite courses before you can apply.

   - You can apply once you have a completed pre-entry assessment form signed by the program head and have completed any necessary bridging or upgrading courses. The completed pre-entry assessment form must be uploaded to your application to be considered for entry.

2. Step 2 for all applicants: Meet the following

   - English language proficiency: Category 2 – English Studies 12 (67%) or equivalent

   - Post-secondary education: A BCIT Diploma in Accounting, Finance, Financial Planning, or an equivalent diploma from another institution* with a minimum GPA of 70% and a minimum average of 65%** in the following second year subject sequences:
       - FMGT 3110 and 4110 (Intermediate Financial Accounting 1 & 2)
       - FMGT 3210 and 4210 (Cost & Managerial Accounting 1 & 2)
       - FMGT 3410 and 4410 (Taxation 1 & 2)
       - FMGT 3510 and 4510 (Corporate Finance 1 & 2)
       - FMGT 4710 or 4720 (Advanced Computer Applications 2) or 4721 (Financial Analytics in Excel)

*BCIT will assess diplomas from other institutions for equivalency on an individual basis. Bridging courses may be required.

**Applicants with an average between 62% and 65% in no more than two second year subject sequences will be considered to have met this entrance requirement.

   - Applicants who have completed post-secondary studies outside of Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia or New Zealand will require a comprehensive evaluation of their credentials by the International Credential Evaluation Service (ICES). Credential evaluation reports from other Canadian services may be considered. These reports must include course-by-course evaluations and GPA calculations.

   - All students are required to have access to computer equipment with the capacity to perform the research, computing and processing functions required by each of the courses in the program.

**International applicants**

- This program is available to international applicants. A valid BCIT study permit is required prior to starting the program.

- Note: The optional Workplace Education courses, FMGT 7610 and FMGT 7620, are not available to international students.

Part-time: applications are accepted throughout the year.
