The Professional Communication Post-Degree Diploma helps you gain experience writing in a variety of genres, editing both print and online documents, designing and producing documents using industry-standard software, and working on projects in teams and individually. You'll also participate in a professional experience opportunity - either a job or a project - that requires a significant amount of writing. 

Following graduation, you'll be equipped with the knowledge, skills, and behaviours to work as a professional communicator in sectors including business, government, non-for-profit and publishing. Please note that you must have a bachelor's degree in order to take this program.

1. Completion of a bachelor's degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in Canada or an equivalent credential from an approved institution in a different country

2. English Studies 12 (C) or [equivalent](https://www.douglascollege.ca/future-students/admission-information/english-proficiency-requirement)




1. Letter of application and writing examples. The letter must describe your prior educational and work experience as well as explain how completion of the diploma program will help you meet your academic and/or career objectives. For the writing samples, you must select material (a combined total of 8–10 pages) that highlights your writing ability in at least three genres (for example, an academic essay, website copy, and a technical manual). You should not include samples of collaborative writing; you may include excerpts from longer works. Electronic submission of the letter and writing samples (PDF format) is preferred.

1. If you earned your credential in a language other than English, you must meet the Douglas College English language proficiency requirement


Admissions to open-enrollment programs are offered on a first-qualified, first-admitted basis. Students are encouraged to apply early.

- September intake- applications typically open in early October of the previous year until late August / early September.
- January intake- applications typically open in early February of the previous year until late December / early January.
- May intake- applications typically open in early June of the previous year until late April / early May.
