If you plan on applying to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) at Douglas College, you will need to first complete the one-year Certificate in Academic Foundations for Potential Nursing Applicants. You'll take 10 university-transferable courses (30 credits) in the sciences and liberal arts that will prepare you for entrance to the BSN program. Acceptance to this program and completion of the required courses does not guarantee admission to the BSN program. Once you have completed the required 30 credits with a minimum grade of C+ in each course, you may apply to the BSN program.

1. One of: 
    - High school graduation
    - One course short of BC secondary school graduation
    - 19 years old by the end of the first month of the first semester of attendance
    - 17 years old on the first day of the first semester of attendance and has not been in school for at least one year
    - Completion of a certificate or equivalent from a special needs program and has been in school for 12 years, or has received an Evergreen or Leaving School 
      Certificate

2. English 12 (B) or equivalent*

3. Biology 11 (B) or 12 (B) or Life Sciences 11 (B) or Anatomy and Physiology 12 (B) or equivalent

4. Foundations of Math 11 (B) or 12 (B) or equivalent
    Note: university transferable course work in the above subject areas may be used towards meeting the entrance requirements. 

*Note: based on both the course grade and provincial literacy assessment


Academic Admission Requirement

1. If you are missing some of the requirements for admission and/or for course registration, Douglas College offers academic upgrading courses to help you get started.	
	
2. International students are not currently eligible for this program. 

3. Students offered a seat in this cohort will receive priority registration and have earlier access to the courses required for entry to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program.	
	
4. Admission to this Program does not guarantee admission to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. Students may apply to the BSN program for the Fall or Winter semester following completion of the required 30 credits, with at least a 'C+' in each course, in the Academic Foundations for Potential Nursing Applicants program.
