The Bachelor of Science in Nursing is approved by the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) and is nationally accredited by the Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing (CASN). Upon graduation, you will be prepared for entry level practice in diverse health care settings ranging from acute care hospitals to community-based programs. After completion of semester 5 at the College, you will become University of Victoria students while remaining at the College in Cranbrook, BC, and will complete all their remaining undergraduate degree requirements through the College while graduating with a University of Victoria Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.

Academic Admission Requirement

1. Once accepted into the program, the following will be required before starting the academic year:	
    - Evidence of satisfactory health (complete the Requisite Skills and Abilities Declaration; see details)	
    - FOIPP Voluntary Self-Disclosure	
    - CPR for Health Care Providers Certificate (BLS or HCP or equivalent; must be kept valid during the program)	
    - Current immunization record (as per requirements set by BCCDC for BC Health Care Workers including annual influenza immunization)*	
    - Negative TB testing results	
    - Criminal Record Check through the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General Criminal Records Review Program	
	
Note (*): Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and strain to the health human resources, COTR will not require information on immunizations / First Aid / CPR requirements at present to complete your application. However, as services have begun to open up, it is student's responsibility to continue actively seeking to obtain and complete these requirements. This information will be required at a later date once the COVID-19 pandemic is declared resolved.



Additional Academic Admission Requirement

1. Each academic year, 40 students are admitted to the BSN program at College of the Rockies. After completion of semester 5 at the College, students will become University of Victoria students, while staying at the College in Cranbrook BC to complete remaining undergraduate degree requirements on site at the College.	
	
2. All academic requirements must be completed and submitted by February 28.  This means that if you are currently studying in high school, your Chemistry 11, Math 11, Biology 12, and English 12 must be completed and final grades received by February 28 of your Grade 12 year. Make sure to consider taking these admission prerequisite courses in semesters appropriate to meet application deadlines.	
	
3. If a student in the Program is denied a practicum placement because of a criminal record, they will be required to withdraw from the Program.	
	
4. If English is not your first language, International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with an overall score of 6.5 in all bands is required to enter the program.

5. As there is high-demand for this program, you are encouraged to complete your English 100, Biology 181 and 182, and three non-nursing electives while awaiting an available seat. This will reduce your course load once you are admitted and help you to be more successful.	

Admission Advice

Applications are open from November 1 until February 15 inclusive. 

All academic admission requirements, including a CASPer Assessment, must be completed and submitted by February 28.
