The Land and Water Resources Diploma prepares you to effectively conserve and repair disturbed land and riparian zones, as well as monitor water quality and quantity. The main focus of the program is reclamation of sites disturbed by industrial development and activity, and the regulations of reclaiming such sites as per the BC Oil and Gas Commission and relevant government bodies.

1. High school graduation or equivalent
2. English 12 (C) or [equivalent](https://www.nlc.bc.ca/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/English_Language_Proficiency_May_2025.pdf)
    - Note: If you meet the English proficiency requirement using an IELTS score and have a writing band of 6.0 or less, you are required to complete NLC English 099 with at least a "B" grade in your first semester at NLC.
3. Pre-calculus 11 (C) or equivalent
4. Biology 11 (C) or equivalent

*Note that some University Arts and Sciences and related programs elective courses have specific prerequisites. Meeting the entrance requirements for the program does not ensure course prerequisites have been met for all available courses.

Academic Admission Requirement

1. Practicum activities for LAND 290 will require students to have H2S Alive, Basic First Aid, Pipeline Construction Safety Training, and WHMIS prior to the fourth semester of the program.

2. Students are required to attend a Culture Camp through the Treaty 8 Tribal Association or other approved organization prior to starting Semester Three of the program. 

3. Students should be prepare to apply inventory methods and reclamation activities in outdoor settings. Personal equipment includes hiking or safety boots, warm and waterproof clothing, clip board and backpack. Personal safety gear will be available for students during practicum activities, apart from protective footwear.
