The Aircraft Mechanic Basics Certificate will provide a broad understanding of aircraft safety, hangar hazards, airframe structures, engines and aircraft systems. You will interpret technical manuals, drawings and blueprints, to disassemble and remove defective parts, to assemble and install replacement parts and test aircraft systems.

1. High school graduation or equivalent
2. English 12 (C) or equivalent
3. Pre-calculus 12 (C) or equivalent

Academic Admission Requirement

1. Dual credit students may enter the program by submitting secondary school transcripts indicating successful completion of Grade 11, including at least a grade of 'C' in English 11, Math 11 and a Grade 11 core science (preferably physics). One grade 10 shop class is also recommended.   

2. For out of province students, please visit program website for equivalency information of academic admission requirements.   

3. Students in the program must provide safety equipment, including two pairs of full-sleeved coveralls, footwear having CSA safety-toe protection with soft soles for climbing on aircraft, and CSA approved safety glasses with clear lenses. 

4. Students are required to have a computer (PC or laptop) with the minimum NLC computer requirements.
