The Bachelor of Science in Nursing Advanced Entry applies your previous Practical Nursing training to gain advanced entry into year 3 of VCC's Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. Apply clinicla judgment in nursing practice based on evidence from nursing science, other sciences, and humanities. Each term of this program contains clinical experience to integrate theory to practice with an emphasis on patient safety and patient-centered care.

1. Graduation from a Practical Nursing Program or equivalent (transcripts required)
2. 18 credits in first-year university courses:

    - 6 credits in English
    - ENGL 1100 (C+) and ENGL 1200 (C+) or equivalent, or
    - ENGL 1101 (C+) and ENGL 1102 (C+) 
    - 6 credits in Biology (in the last 5 years)
    - BIOL 1120 (C+) and BIOL 1220 (C+)
    - 6 credits of courses (C+) in Humanities or Social Sciences

3. English Language Proficiency demonstrated by one of the following:

    - Three years of full-time, face-to-face high school or post-secondary education at an accredited institution where English is the language of instruction and is also one of the country’s official languages. English as an Additional Language courses are not included in the calculation.
    - Academic IELTS (at least 7.0 overall, and Speaking (7.0), Listening (7.0), Reading (6.5) Writing (6.5))
    - CELBAN (Canadian English Language Benchmarks Assessment for Nurses) with Speaking (8.0), Listening (9.0), Reading (8.0), Writing (7.0). You can only use CELBAN scores if you studied nursing in a country other than Canada.

4. VCC Health Sciences Math Assessment (80%) and a minimum 7/9 in the applications section
5. Upon acceptance to the program, you will be required to successfully complete four (4) Bridging LPN to BScN courses:
    - NURS 1357, NURS 1399, NURS 1358 and NURS 1359

Note: NURS 1399 must be successfully completed before starting NURS 1358 & NURS 1359
Note: These pre-requisite courses are offered together in one term and must be successfully completed within two years

Academic Admission Requirement

1. Current Canadian registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Proof of license will be required. 
2. 6 months or 900 hours worked to the full scope of Licensed Practical Nurse practice within the last five years, verified by a letter from your employers.
3. Submission of a CASPer Test score. CASPer Test scores are only valid for one admission cycle
4. The following will be required upon acceptance into the program:

    - a successful Criminal Record Check (CRC) (you are responsible for the cost of the CRC)
    - a current CPR-C certificate
    - be properly fitted for an N95 respiratory mask
    - a negative TB test or chest x-ray
    - immunizations in the following are strongly recommended and may be required for practicum placements:
        - Pertussis/Diphtheria/Tetanus
        - Polio
        - Measles/Mumps/Rubella
        - Varicella (Chickenpox)
        - Hepatitis B
        - Influenza
        - COVID-19

Additional Academic Admission Requirement

1. This program is available to Canadian citizens and permanent residents. Applicants must be 16 years of age or older or a graduate of a secondary school.
2. Applicants who self-identify as Indigenous are strongly encourages to connect with VCC's Indigenous Education and Community Engagement team to learn more about VCC's Indigenous Enrolment policy and services.
3. If you are missing any prerequisites, VCC offers academic upgrading, English as a Second Language courses, and university transfer options. Applicants must submit official transcripts and other documents as required by their course or program.

6. Clinical facilities may decline individual students for their placement if a student is unable to provide proof of immunizations, satisfactory serum titers and TB screening.
