The Mechanical Systems Associate Certificate offers a selection of courses related to the design of heating, air conditioning and ventilation (HVAC) systems for buildings. You will learn to calculate HVAC loads for various types of buildings using industry standard methods and computer-aided techniques. Alternative energy sources and strategies are emphasized.

This program is intended to broaden the skills of those with either a technical or industrial background in architecture, building construction and mechanical engineering and technology. Applicants should be familiar with technical drawing and computers.

English: two years of education in English in an English-speaking country with one of the following:
English Studies 12 (50%) or
English First Peoples 12 (50%) or
Other acceptable BC and Yukon courses or
3.0 credits of post-secondary English, humanities or social sciences (50%) from a recognized institution

International applicants

This program is available to international students who currently have a valid status in Canada. A valid study permit is required prior to starting the program.

Apply to program

A formal application to the program is not required prior to registration. Interested students can go ahead and register for courses from the program matrix.

If a course has one or more prerequisites, you are responsible for ensuring that you have either successfully completed the prerequisite course, or have the equivalent skills and knowledge, prior to registration.

If you believe that you have taken an equivalent course at a different post-secondary institution, you can apply for transfer credit by submitting your official transcript and detailed course outline.

Once you have completed two or three courses, please declare your intended program of study.
