The Business Management Diploma prepares you to make strategic business decisions and manage the direction and operation of a company. You will gain knowledge of all business functions including: accounting, marketing, human resources, operations, and computer applications. Upon graduation you'll be able to analyze business problems, lead effective teams, and discover ways to improve overall business profitability and efficiency.

Competitive Entry: Two-step process

Preference will be given to applicants with:

 grades above the minimum
Several years work and/or volunteer experience*
Additional post-secondary  courses*
Experience working in teams*

*Applicants with preferred  are to submit transcripts and supporting documentation with their online application.

Step 1: Meet the following 

English: two years of education in English in an English-speaking country with one of the following:
English Studies 12 (67%) or
English First Peoples 12 (67%) or
Other acceptable BC and Yukon courses or
3.0 credits of post-secondary English, humanities or social sciences (67%) from a recognized institution



Math: one of the following:
Pre-Calculus 11 (67%) or
Foundations of Math 11 (67%) or
Workplace Math 11 (67%) or
Other acceptable BC and Yukon courses or
OPMT 0199 - Math for Business (67%) or
OPMT 0198 - Business Math Assessment Test (67%)

Mandatory Applicant Questionnaire : This form will be graded and used with other  in the competitive selection for the program.

Step 2: Department assessment

All applications will have their   and responses to their mandatory applicant questionnaire reviewed by the program area at the application deadline. Admission is competitive and will be offered to the most qualified applicants.

International applicants

This program is available to international applicants. A valid study permit is required prior to starting the program.

Students enrolled in this program must complete the mandatory work component to qualify for graduation. A co-op work permit is required prior to starting the work component.

Academic Admission Requirement



We recommend that you attend an information session prior to applying to this program. Information sessions are held monthly, October through March. Applicants who live outside of the Greater Vancouver area will be accommodated.

Strong mathematic skills are required for success in BCIT Business diplomas. Students accepted into this program will be contacted starting in April regarding the completion of a math assessment test. If you score below a 67% on this assessment test, or feel that you would like to upgrade your math skills regardless, you should complete OPMT 0199 or OPMT 0023.

Applicants must have work, community, or volunteer experience.
