The Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Science Degree focuses on the sciences behind drug discovery and development, including pharmacology, formulations, nanomedicine, diagnostics, and analytical chemistry. You'll have the opportunity to partake in practicums and research to further develop your skills and knowledge. You'll graduate prepared for grad school or a technical position in pharmaceuticals, life sciences, or biotechnology.

Admission requirements for BC High School Graduates to the Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Sciences:

1. High school graduation or equivalent

2. English 12 and English 11 or their equivalents (70% in one of them)

3. Minimum six academic/non-academic Grade 12 courses (recommended)

4. Pre-Calculus 12 or equivalent (67%)

5. Chemistry 12 or equivalent"

6. Language 11 or waiver (includes all second language courses but excludes introductory Grade 11 language courses)

7. Pre-Calculus 11 or Foundations of Math 12 or equivalent

8. Chemistry 11 or equivalent 

9. Life Sciences 11 or Anatomy and Physiology 12 or equivalent

10. Grades presented in all relevant academic Grade 11 and Grade 12 courses that fall under these subject categories* will be looked at:
    - Language Arts
    - Mathematics & Computation
    - Sciences
        - *Note: There is no minimum number of courses required for admission, but you are encouraged to challenge yourself with a substantial number of courses that are relevant to your intended area of study.

1. If you are a post-secondary transfer applicant, see Academic Calendar for info on admission to Year Two of the program. Use BC Transfer Guide to search course transferability. 

2. There are three streams to choose from with the Pharmaceutical Sciences Bachelor's Degree. You will choose one of the following:
    - General Studies: focus exclusively on coursework
    - Research Focus: complete a research project or practicum in year 4
    - Honours with Research Focus: complete a research project or practicum in year 4, plus 12 additional credits of coursework

3. Admission is determined on the basis of a number of factors including performance in specific high school courses, evidence of relevant learning and achievements both in and out of school, and other indicators of suitability for the Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Sciences program.  

Admission Advice

Applications must be submitted for most programs by January for September entry. Early application is recommended. Confirm dates with UBCV.
