The Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing is a mix of classroom study and clinical practice in acute care and community settings that will prepare you for the challenges of the nursing profession. You'll learn about primary health as well as theoretical and relational practice, research, leadership, policy and ethics. Upon graduation, you can work in acute care settings or in community, contribute to research within oncology, geriatrics, and more, or more into leadership roles in hospitals and other institutions.

1. English language proficiency

2. Completion of a Bachelor's degree or at least 48 undergraduate non-nursing credits toward a degree in another field of study, including the following admission prerequisite courses:
    - First-year English (3 credits) with one of the following:
UBCV ENGL 112 or WRDS 150 are recommended, or an equivalent first-year English composition course. The English prerequisite may be waived for students who have completed a bachelor's degree from an accredited university where English is the main language of instruction
    - Notation of WRCM 1st (3 credits) in your UBCV Academic History or Academic Transcripts 
    - Human Anatomy and Physiology (6 credits). BIOL 153 or BIOL 155 (completed 2020W and beyond) or an equivalent human anatomy and physiology course/courses covering all body systems completed within four years at the time of application is recommended*
        - *Note: Please see UBCV's HAP approved course list for 2023 entry for more information. 

3. Most recent 30 non-nursing credits completed at the undergraduate level (70% average or 2.8 GPA)

Academic Admission Requirement

2. Submit the School of Nursing supplemental application which includes:
    - The names and contact information for two individuals who can provide reference information. It is recommended that one referee be a teacher, instructor, employer or supervisor
    - A current resume (form provided in application package)
    - A brief written personal statement about the applicant's reasons for requesting admission to the School of Nursing and understanding of the nursing profession

3. Complete an online Computer-Based Assessment for Sampling Personal Characteristics (CASPer) assessment

4. Up-to-date proof of immunization (after acceptance)

5. Criminal Records Check (after acceptance) 

6. First Aid/CPR BLS Level for Healthcare certification (after acceptance) 

7. N95 mask fitting test (after acceptance) 

8. Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident of Canada or person with refugee status in Canada


Additional Academic Admission Requirement

1. Interested applicants are required to submit two kinds of applications:
    - Online application to UBCV (deadline: December)
    - Supplemental application to UBCV School of Nursing (deadline: January) (you will be given access only after you have submitted the initial online application to UBCV) 

2. Those who are not a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or person with refugee status in Canada are ineligible to apply. International students and transfer students from other Nursing programs are also ineligible to apply. 

3. Admission is competitive. Fulfillment of the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission. The admission decisions will be based on academic standing, supplemental application score and CASPer results.
