Prepare for your kinesiologist certification with the Neuromechanical and Physiological Sciences stream. You'll study core courses in general health, biomechanics, anatomy, physiology, motor learning, psychology, sociology, and physical education, before specializing in the final two years of your degree.

1. High school graduation or equivalent

2. English 12 and English 11 or their equivalents (70% in one of them)

3. Minimum six academic/non-academic Grade 12 courses (recommended)

4. One of:
    - Pre-Calculus 12 
    - Anatomy and Physiology 12 (Biology 12) 
    - Chemistry 12 
    - Physics 12 
    - Equivalent

5. A Language 11 or Waiver (includes all second language courses, excludes introductory language 11 courses)

6. Pre-Calculus 11 or Foundations of Math 12 or equivalent

7. Any Science 11 or Science 12 course or equivalent 

8. Grades presented in all relevant academic Grade 11 and Grade 12 courses that fall under these subject categories* will be looked at:
    - Language Arts
    - Mathematics & Computation
    - Sciences
    - Social Studies
        - *Note: There is no minimum number of courses required for admission, but you are encouraged to challenge yourself with a substantial number of courses that are relevant to your intended area of study.

1. All students will complete general Kinesiology courses in their first-year and declare their stream choice once their registration for second-year opens up. The three Kinesiology streams include: 
    - Neuromechanical and Physiological Sciences 
    - Social and Behavioural Sciences 
    - Multidisciplinary Science 

2. If transferring to UBCV from BC colleges or other institutions, you may receive transfer credit for up to 60 credits.

3. Many students in the School of Kinesiology are granted first-year credit for IB, AP or British A Levels. Visit UBCV's First Year Credit webpage for more details. 

Admission Advice

Applications must be submitted for most programs by January for September entry. Early application is recommended. Confirm dates with UBCV.
Exceptions of certain programs are available on UBCV Vancouver Academic Calendar 2023/24.
