The Dual Degree Bachelor in Education is completed in five years with reduced credits rather than the traditional four years plus one year degree path to the BEd degree. After completing all the requirements, students will be eligible for a British Columbia Professional Teaching Certificate.

1. You must first be enrolled in one of the following Bachelor programs at UBCV: 
    - BKin Physical and Health Education (currently suspended)
    - BMUS General Studies 
    - BSc Food, Nutrition and Health 
    - BSc Forest Sciences 
    - BSc Mathematics 
    - BSc Natural Resources Conservation 
    - BSc Physics

Academic Admission Requirement

1. Dual degrees are not open to students with a previous degree. For more information contact the Teacher Education Office.  

2. Admission acceptance into the program will be determined based on a review of both the applicant's transcript and statement of academic purpose. 

3. After completing the requirements, teacher candidates are eligible for a British Columbia Professional Teaching Certificate. 

Admission Advice

Applications must be submitted for most programs by January for September entry. Early application is recommended. Confirm dates with UBCV.
Exceptions of certain programs are available on UBCV Vancouver Academic Calendar 2023/24.
Students can apply for the Dual Degree in Education when they are currently enrolled in either Year 2 or Year 3 of their program. Check your program for details regarding application timing.
