This program is intended for students who already have a baccalaureate degree (four-year undergraduate degree) and allows students to transition to the field of nursing. The program is recognized by The British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM). The purpose of the program is to educate nurses to practice with a variety of clients in various settings, guided by a health promotion perspective and a capacity for effective relational engagement. Students will learn to work as partners with clients and with other health care providers. Students learn to be independent, accountable, reflective, self-directed, self-motivated and life-long learners with questioning minds and familiarity with inquiry approaches to learning.

For students who already have a baccalaureate degree (four-year undergraduate degree) and to transition to the field of nursing. Students who have not completed an undergraduate degree may wish to consider the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program.

1. Meet applicant category (high school, mature student, transfer student, etc.) 
2. English Proficiency
3. Completion of an undergraduate degree within the last six years (2.67 cumulative GPA), including 30 credits at the third and fourth year level
4. Six credits of undergraduate-level human anatomy and physiology (C+ in each course)
5. Six credits from outside the health discipline, including 3 credits of English (ENGL 1100 or equivalent) (C+ in each course) 

Academic Admission Requirement

1. To receive a conditional offer of admission and before final admission to the program is granted, you need:
    - CPR Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR Health Care Provider (HCP) (must maintain current throughout the program)
    - Current Standard First Aid Certificate
    - Criminal Record Check through the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General's Criminal Records Review Program (within 6 months prior to the start of the program)
    - Immunization Record Form reflecting required immunizations as per Practice Education Guidelines (PEG) for BC 


Additional Academic Admission Requirement

1. Applications to this program will only be accepted from Canadian citizens and permanent residents / landed immigrants of Canada.

2. Applicants who have lived outside of Canada as an adult are required to secure a Criminal Record Search with the Vulnerable Sector from their country of origin. Please contact the Office of Admissions for further direction on obtaining your criminal record check.

3. Students accepted into the program are responsible for all costs related to immunization and maintaining immunizations as per the PEG for BC. Students who are unvaccinated may not be able to be accepted into the program. 

4. If you are unable to satisfy the English proficiency requirement to enter the undergraduate program at KPU, you may be able to begin your studies through the Faculty’s pathway program. It may give you the option of taking English proficiency upgrading courses, while simultaneously taking a limited number of undergraduate courses at KPU before becoming eligible for admission to undergraduate studies.
