The Bachelor of Health Science allows students to turn their two-year health-care diploma into a bachelor's degree. Students will broaden their education and enhance their skills, knowledge, and career options and academic credentials.

1. Completion of, or proof of enrolment in, a minimum two-year diploma in health care or related area from a recognized program and institution.

Academic Admission Requirement

1. Caring and interested attitude toward older adults and physically challenged persons and be willing to work with these clients and their families to encourage independence

2. Flexibility and maturity are desirable characteristics of an Health Care Assistant.

3. Once accepted into the program, the following will be required before you can enroll in any lab or practicum courses:
    - Completed and signed Consent to a Criminal Record Check form
    - Completed and signed Health Status Declaration form
    - Standard First Aid certificate
    - CPR Level C (or equivalent) or CPR-HCP certificate issued within the last two years
    - Up-to-date immunization record
    - Food Safe Level 1 certificate
    - Current Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) certificate
    - Health Sciences Placement Network (HSPnet) form

Additional Academic Admission Requirement

1. Volunteer or work experience with older adults and physically challenged persons is recommended.

2. Discussion with a home support worker is recommended.
