The Pharmacy Technician Diploma at VIU is partnered with Selkirk College to train students. The program is accredited by the Canadian Council for Accreditation Pharmacy Programs. When you graduate you can complete national Pharmacy Examination Board exams and license as a pharmacy technician in Canada.

1. High school graduation or equivalent
2. English 12 (60%) or equivalent
3. Anatomy and Physiology 12 (60%) or equivalent
4. Chemistry 11 (60%) or equivalent
5. Pre-calculus 11 (60%) or Foundations of Math 12 (60%) or equivalent


Academic Admission Requirement



1. A satisfactory Criminal Record Check according to the Criminal Records Review Act. A check completed through the RCMP is not sufficient. 
2. A completed Immunization Requirements form including compliance with COVID-19 vaccine requirements
3. Basic computer skills
4. Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) certification
5. Emergency First Aid and CPR-C completed prior to starting lab courses
