To earn a Visual Arts and Computer Science Degree, you have the option of obtaining a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree or a Bachelor of Science Degree. In this program, you will apply the skills used in visuals arts to computer science. Learn how you can combine drawing, painting, sculpture and photography with technology. Study extended media and video art. This unique degree will give you skills that you can apply far beyond the artistic community.

Please select Visual Arts as your major when you submit your application to UVic, and indicate in your portfolio submission that you are interested in the Visual Arts and Computer Science program.

1. High school graduation or equivalent

2. All of the following Grade 12 courses: 
- English 12 (67%) or equivalent
- Pre-Calculus 12 (73%) or equivalent
- One approved academic 12 course
- One additional approved academic 12 or approved fine arts 12 

3. All of the following Grade 11 courses: 
- English 11 or equivalent
- Pre-Calculus 11 or equivalent
Two courses from:
- Science 11 or equivalent
- Second language 11
- Fine arts 11 or equivalent
- Social studies 11/12 or equivalent

Estimated admission average: 85%

Academic Admission Requirement

1. Digital Portfolio (10 digital images, or five images and a video link; use this online form for portfolio submissions to the Department of Visual Arts).

Additional Academic Admission Requirement

1. Portfolio questionnaire can be previewed. 

2. All applicants to UVic (regardless of country of origin or citizenship status) are required to demonstrate competence in the English language prior to admission. You can choose one of several ways to demonstrate language proficiency.

You are not required to provide proof of language proficiency if you have studied full time for at least four years within Canada at the high school and/or post-secondary level, and all of your instruction has been in English.

3. Admission averages are calculated using all required Grade 12 courses for entry to a program. 

4. If you are transferring from other universities, colleges or art schools, the application process is generally the same as outlined above for secondary school students. 

5. Transfer credit will be assigned as listed in the BC Transfer Guide or evaluated as necessary. You are not normally admitted into third- and fourth-year studio courses unless your outside elective requirements for the first and second years of the Program have been met.

Proof of English language proficiency: typically one month after the application deadline. Your language-proficiency deadline will be indicated in your online application checklist after you submit your online application to UVic.
