The Bachelor of Arts in Music allows you to explore the music of different world cultures while performing in musical ensembles. Mix your study of music theory, history, sound and technology with other areas. Prepare for a career as a musician, teacher, arts administrator or in the media arts. No audition necessary.

1. High school graduation or equivalent

2. All of the following Grade 12 courses: 
    - English 12 (67%) or equivalent
    - Two approved academic 12 courses
    - One additional approved academic 12 or approved fine arts 12

3. All of the following Grade 11 courses: 
    - One approved English 11 or equivalent
    - Three courses from:
        - Foundations of Math 11 or Pre-calculus 11 or equivalent
        - Science 11 or equivalent
        - Language 11 or equivalent
        - Fine arts 11 or equivalent
        - Social studies 11/12 or equivalent

Academic Admission Requirement

1. All applicants to UVic (regardless of country of origin or citizenship status) are required to demonstrate competence in the English language prior to admission. You can choose one of several ways to demonstrate language proficiency. You are not required to provide proof of language proficiency if you have studied full time for at least four years within Canada at the high school and/or post-secondary level, and all of your instruction has been in English.
2. Admission averages are calculated using all required Grade 12 courses for entry to a program. The actual admission average required for entry may be higher in the future due to increased competition and limited capacity.

The deadline to submit proof of language proficiency is typically one month after the application deadline. After you apply to UVic, your language-proficiency deadline will be indicated in your online application checklist.
