In the Bachelor of Science in Health Information Science Degree, you’ll bridge the worlds of health care, management and technology. You'll learn how to optimize health care using technology. This program will teach you what information is important to health care professionals and patients through coursework and a mandatory co-op placement.

Option A. Admission Requirements for BC Secondary School Graduates
1. High school graduation or equivalent

2. All of the following Grade 12 courses: 
    - English 12 (67%) or equivalent
    - Foundation of Math 12 or Pre-calculus 12 or equivalent
    - Two approved academic 12 courses

3. All of the following Grade 11 courses: 
    - English 11 or equivalent
    - Pre-calculus 11 or equivalent
    - Science 11 or equivalent
    - Social studies 11/12 or equivalent

Estimated admission average 80%

Option B. Admission Requirements for Applicants Transferring from Other Faculties or Institutions:
1. If you have attempted less than 8 university-level courses, you need to meet the admission requirements for secondary school graduates (as detailed above), AND at least 5.0 ("B") grade point average on all university-level attempted
2. If you have attempted 8 or more university-level courses, you need at least 5.0 ("B") grade point average on the most recently completed 8 courses. 

Academic Admission Requirement

1. All applicants to UVic (regardless of country of origin or citizenship status) are required to demonstrate competence in the English language prior to admission. You can choose one of several ways to demonstrate language proficiency. You are not required to provide proof of language proficiency if you have studied full time for at least four years within Canada at the high school and/or post-secondary level, and all of your instruction has been in English.

2. Admission averages are calculated using all required Grade 12 courses for entry to a program. 

Admission Advice

Online applications to UVIC should be submitted by the following application deadlines:			
    - January for September program entry			
    - September for January program entry (for Transfer students only)

Applications may be accepted past deadlines at the discretion of the School.	
			
Proof of English language proficiency: typically one month after the application deadline. Your language-proficiency deadline will be indicated in your online application checklist after you submit your online application to UVic.
