The Bachelor of Science in Biology allows you to explore life at all levels of organization, from the gene to the ecosystem. Through this program you'll understand the key fields of biology and develop practical skills through field work, laboratory work and research projects. You also have the opportunity to design your own program of study with the option of including a co-op placement.

1. High school graduation or equivalent
2. All of the following Grade 12 courses:
   * English Studies 12 or English First Peoples 12  or equivalent
   * Pre-calculus 12 or equivalent
   * Two approved Science 12 courses
3. All of the following Grade 11 courses:
   * Approved English 11 or equivalent
   * Pre-calculus 11 or equivalent
   * Chemistry 11 or equivalent
   * Physics 11 or equivalent
   * Approved Social Studies 11/12 or equivalent

Academic Admission Requirement

1. All applicants to UVic (regardless of country of origin or citizenship status) are required to demonstrate competence in the English language prior to admission. You can choose one of several ways to demonstrate language proficiency. You are not required to provide proof of language proficiency if you have studied full time for at least four years within Canada at the high school and/or post-secondary level, and all of your instruction has been in English.
2. Admission averages are calculated using all required Grade 12 courses for entry to a program. The actual admission average required for entry may be higher in the future due to increased competition and limited capacity.

Online applications to UVIC should be submitted by the following application deadlines:						
    - January for September program entry			
    - September for January program entry			
    - March for May program entry

The deadline to submit proof of language proficiency is typically one month after the application deadline. After you apply to UVic, your language-proficiency deadline will be indicated in your online application checklist.
